AN OPENING IN THE SEA OF MARBLE, is Regg Salgado's interpretation of the work O Marquês de Pombal examining the plans for the reconstruction of Lisbon, by Miguel Ângelo Lupi (MC.PIN.0702 - 1881-1883).
“The idea of this mural in the 2 de Maio neighborhood represents what I felt the first time I visited the neighborhood. Like onions, people have layers that protect them from the “outside”. Trust is something you earn here.
I met Diogo, one of the people chosen to be portrayed, and instead of painting his mobile disability I chose to immortalize the genuine interest he showed in the project. His hands opened one of the onions of this Marble “sea”. Tiago Salgado - Regg”.
